As football and volleyball come to an end, the focus of the athletic program turns to the hard court.
This year the Celtics have new coaches for their boys and girls basketball teams. Coach Ernest Medina is coaching the boys team and Coach Doug Weisbruch is coaching the girls team.
"Coach Medina is looking forward to coaching them." Athletic Director Cory Schwartz said. "I expect the girls to be as good if not better than last year under Coach Weisbruch."
The girls team had practice in the mornings from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. from Mon., Oct. 28 to Fri., Nov. 1.
The boys team will take the girls' practice time starting Mon., Nov. 11. The girls will start having practices in the afternoons.
"We have a lot of potential to be a great team," senior John Ogunmuyiwa said. "We retained all of our starters from last year, and I think we have a more-leveled playing field against the teams we're facing. I think that Coach Medina is going to be good, even though he is new to coaching the sport."
The boys and girls teams will have their first game against Bartlett on Fri., Nov. 11. Their game after that will be against CTCS on Nov. 19.
