Senior Jacob Daheim rushed for 407 yards and seven touchdowns in a 61-16 rout over Round Rock Christian Friday, Nov. 4. Daheim added a receiving touchdown for a personal best 8 touchdowns in one game.
Junior Joseph Traino also had a touchdown in the win.
With the 61-16 victory, the Celtics end the regular season at 9-1 overall, 2-1 in district, and are scheduled to play El Paso Jesus Chapel in the first round of the TAPPS Division I, Six-man football playoffs.
Friday's victory against the Crusaders of Round Rock was hard-fought. Penalties and turnovers hampered the Celtics, who led 18-16 at the half.
During the halftime break, Coach Charles Boles refocused the team, pointing out that they still led despite a host of errors.
"Anything that could go wrong went wrong, and we're still up by two," he told the team.
The Celtics responded with 43 unanswered points, and the game ended on the 45-point mercy rule with 3:36 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The first round playoff game against El Paso Jesus Chapel will be next Saturday at 1 p.m. The two teams will meet in a neutral site.
