For the first time in history, the Celtics volleyball team won their first round playoff game, defeating Christian Heritage School in Longview in five games.
The playoff run was short-lived, however, as the Celtics lost in round two.
"I'm so proud of the team. It was very loud with a big crowd, and we had a lot of chances to give up, but we pulled it together," Head Volleyball Coach James Albers said, after the first-round win.
The Celtic volleyball team played their first playoff game on Oct. 29 on the road at Christian Heritage School in Longview.
The Lady Celtics started off strong in the first set, winning it 25-18, but lost some momentum in the second set, falling 25-11.
The Celtics came back in the third set and had a solid win of 25-16.
The fourth set was close from start to finish. The girls fought hard, but came out with a loss of 25-20.
The fifth set was played only to 15 points. The Celtic volleyball team played hard and emerged with a victory 15-11.
"We worked together well as a team and it paid off," labero Hannah Gokingco said. "I'm excited to continue in Playoffs."
Leading the stats were Molly Daheim with 63 digs, Rebecca Albers with 10 aces, Francesca Weisbruch with 20 assists, and Rebecca Albers and Andi Cyr with 6 kills each.
Coach Albers said the next Playoff game will likely be Saturday.
