Mu Alpha Theta is a National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society, formed in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma. It is dedicated to inspiring a keen interest in mathematics, developing strong scholarship in the subject, and promoting the enjoyment of mathematics in high school and two-year college students.
The Holy Trinity Chapter of Mu Alpha Theta was comissioned in the Fall of 2017 with the primary goal of helping to instill a love of mathematics in all of the students.
In order to become a member of Mu Alpha Theta (according to national standards) students must have completed at least two years of high school math (usually Algebra I and Geometry), and be enrolled in a third. They must have at least a 3.0 GPA for their math credits. If a student takes Algebra I during their 8th grade year it counts, and students can join as sophomores. At Holy Trinity there is the additional requirement that students must have taken or be enrolled in at least one pre-AP or AP math class.
