Holy Trinity Catholic High School had their second home scrimmage against John Paul II on Friday, August 23.
John Paul II won the scrimmage, 3-0, though the game does not officially count. It was the last warm-up for the Celtics before the start of the regular season.
“We’ve had a good practice this week,” Coach Cory Schwartz said. “It’s hard to practice because we have a lack of players. The bottom line is we’re trying to win a championship.”
Coach Schwartz said he is happy with the progress of the team.
“The team is ready. They’re getting better every day in practice.”
Assistant Coach Ryan Bounds agreed, comparing the team’s practices to baking a cake.
“We have all the right ingredients and now we have to finish it,” Coach Bounds said.
The Celtic football team’s next game will be Friday, August 29, 2013 against Arlington Fellowship. The coaches have been practicing the team hard in practice and are hoping for their first pre-district game to go well and come out with in a win.
“I think we will do well because people have started to grow and have more leadership,” senior quarterback Mark Mata said. “We have more experience because this is the second year we are playing 11 vs. 11. So I think we will do better than last year.”
