Holy Trinity Catholic High School announced that Senior Therese Mosmeyer has earned the Degree of Premier Distinction for the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA). This prestigious honor places Therese in the top half of one percent of all students in the NSDA nationwide.
To earn points toward various degrees, students compete in interscholastic speech and debate contests. The top Degree of Premier Distinction is achieved by earning 1,500 points, which Therese crossed at the National Tournament held in June in Phoenix, Arizona.
Since the school began, Holy Trinity has had 297 students compete in speech and debate, with sixteen of those earning the NSDA's top degree. Coach Chris Mosmeyer also announced that two more students are expected to earn the top degree within the next month, and two or three others could earn the degree by the end of the year.
Certificates of membership in the NSDA, affixed with various seals indicating the degrees, are kept on the wall in Mr. Mosmeyer's room.
"We are so proud of Therese for achieving this incredible honor," said Principal Fred Valle. "Her dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence are truly inspiring."
