Holy Trinity Catholic High School will host its 2022 Celtic Disc Golf Tournament beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Crossroads Park in Temple — an 18-hole competition that will benefit the fine arts department.
Registration is $35 for the general division and $25 for the student division and can be completed online at tinyurl.com/HTDiscGolf. As of Monday, there were 17 total spots available. Registration will close at 8 p.m. on Friday.
“This is a great tournament for first-time disc golfers or people wanting to do a low-stress tournament,” Chris Mosmeyer, the fine arts director, said. “All registered players will receive two tournament-stamped discs, a gift bag, and a mini disc. The player’s pack alone will be worth the entry fee.”
Awards include medals for the top six players in each division, gift cards for the top three players in the general division, and an additional tournament disc for the top three players in the student division.
“Bring your friends,” said Mosmeyer, who is serving as the tournament director. “You and at least two other players check-in and then play the course starting at hole one. You must tee off between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. We will assist you in making sure that you have three players on a card or an official scorer with fewer than three.”
Holy Trinity Catholic High School spokeswoman Renee Morales — who noted how registration fees will help pay for students to attend interscholastic competitions during the 2022-23 academic year — listed some of the fine arts department’s recent accomplishments.
“In February, Holy Trinity Catholic High School hosted the Yellow Rose District Tournament, and Mosmeyer was happy to say that we had several students who qualified for the national tournament, which was held in Louisville, Kentucky,” she said in a news release. “At the state meet, Holy Trinity Catholic High School placed third overall, extending our top-three streak to 18 years.”
